The Winds Of Winter finally may have a release date now. The long awaited book which has been making a lot of noise amongst the fans, over its ever-deferring release date since past 6 years have now sailed close to a probable release date. As rumours say, Winds Of Winter might release on the author’s coming birthday in September, which can also be considered as a birthday gift to his faithful fans.
The author on his blog recently mentioned that the book is taking time and it will take him this year to release the book. In a recent interview with Insider, Martin’s co-authors, Elio Garcia and Linda Antonsson had declared some of their observations related to Martin’s style of writing novels. Elio commented on Martin’s style with words: “He feels that once he has outlined it, once he has explored all the details of the story, all the beats of the story, he can’t go back and revisit it.”
GRRM gardening style of writing: Martin in an interview with Guardian in 2011 had said: “I think there are two types of writers, the architects and the gardeners” and further continued by saying, “The architects plan everything ahead of time, like an architect building a house. They know how many rooms are going to be in the house, what kind of roof they’re going to have, where the wires are going to run, what kind of plumbing there’s going to be. They have the whole thing designed and blueprinted out before they even nail the first board up.” He said the perfect example of an architect is J.K Rowling where he is Gardener. He further backed his comment by saying: “The gardeners dig a hole, drop in a seed and water it,” he told the Guardian. “They kind of know what seed it is, they know if [they] planted a fantasy seed or mystery seed or whatever. But as the plant comes up and they water it, they don’t know how many branches it’s going to have, they find out as it grows.”
The author had on his blog commented that he has been busy with his other engagements as he had invested a time writing a story for his friend, Gardner Dozois for his upcoming book, “The Sons of the Dragon.”
