As we have been reporting about the latest beta updates of WhatsApp, the company has been bringing a lot of new features to their app. The latest feature added to the beta app is the ability to pin your favourite chats at the top.
This is a really neat feature that many were expecting but it was missing from WhatsApp until now. It has been introduced to the beta version of the app and is available for the latest versions – 2.17.162 and 2.17.163. if you already have the beta app installed, you will most probably be able to use it.
Android Police had first spotted the feature on those two beta versions. In order to use the feature, you need to long press the individual or group chat you wish to pin on the top. Then, from the top bar, you can press the Pin symbol from a list of options that includes Pin, Delete, Mute and Archive.
As of now, WhatsApp allows you to pin a maximum of three chats on the top and if you try to pin more chats, you will get a message saying ‘You can only pin up to 3 chats’. When you are done with pinning, the selected chats will always remain at the top irrespective of the timing of your conversation even with any other contact. Rest of your conversations will appear after the pinned ones.
Unpinning these chats is equally easier. You can press the wanted chat and disable the Pin button.
It has already been mentioned that the feature is available only for the beta release of the app and is not available for the stable version. It is highly likely that the feature will make to the stable version quite soon.
If you are eager to try this feature out, then you can sign up for WhatsApp beta on Google Play Store from your Android phone itself. Else, you can directly download the WhatsApp 2.17.163 beta APK from APK Mirror and install it.
