Ever since the Donal Trump took office as the President of the United States, there have been several controversies making rounds around him. In a recent development, a member of his economic advisory group has been subjected to the backlash of the public. The member of the group we are talking about is none other than Elon Musk.
He being part of Trump’s advisory team has severely affected the sales of Tesla Motors. Several customers who had made reservations for Tesla’s new Model 3 car are now cancelling their orders. Though the cancellations aren’t widespread yet, they do give us an idea how politics can affect business.
In an interview with CNBC before the election, Musk said, “He doesn’t seem to have the sort of character that reflects well on the United States”. Indicating that he was certainly against Trump becoming the president of the country. Along with several other executives from the top companies in the United States, Elon Musk was also offered to serve on the President’s advisory committee, which he readily accepted.
The Model 3 is one of the most sought after Tesla car among all its model. The reason being its placement in the mid-range segment without compromising on the true spirit of the company. The willing customers can make a reservation for the car against a refundable deposit of $1000. The production of the car is expected to start later this year.
People took on Twitter to show their annoyance towards Musk’s involvement with the President. The cancellations potentially having a huge impact on the revenue of the company is just based on speculations as the cancellations aren’t as widespread. There has been no official word either from Elon Musk or Tesla.
