Launched earlier this year, the new Galaxy A series seems all set to make its debut in India. Samsung is sending out invites for an upcoming press event but it has still not been revealed what the event is for. It is quite likely that the Galaxy A series will be launched like the company did around this time last year.
The 2017 Galaxy A series was announced on January 9 and included the Galaxy A3 (2017), Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) bringing a worthy update to their counterparts from last year. The entire A series from Samsung covers the complete mid-range being priced between Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 30,000. The 2017 variants are also expected to be priced around this.
Samsung has tweaked the design of the phones a bit and all the three phones in the series come with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. Besides their unibody construction, the new phones also come with USB Type-C ports, unlike microUSB ports in the previous year’s series. With all these features, the company focuses on the premium mid-range segment which is growing the country at a good pace.
The Galaxy A3 (2017) is targeted at the price range of Rs. 15,000-20,000 and comes with a 4.7-inch 720p Super AMOLED display. It comes powered by Exynos 7870 processor along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage. A 13MP camera sits on the back and an 8MP one on the front. It sports a 2350 mAh battery while running on Android Marshmallow.
On the other hand, the Galaxy A5 (2017) will be powered by Exynos 7880 processor and 3GB of RAM. The internal storage is 32GB and it comes with a 5.2-inch full HD Super AMOLED display. Both the front and rear camera of the device are a 16MP unit with f/1.9 aperture. It will sport a battery of 3200 mAh. The Galaxy A7 (2017) has identical specs as the Galaxy A5 (2017), the only difference would be a larger display at 5.7 inches and a bigger battery rated at 3600 mAh.
Samsung will also be taking the wraps off the Galaxy S8 during an event scheduled for March 29 in New York.
