The Galaxy J series is quite popular in the mid-range segment, especially in the emerging markets. Launched last year, the series is now due for an update and is also expected to get it very soon. Several leaks and rumours about the Galaxy J7 (2017) have confirmed the details about the phone and the latest leak from Evan Blass shows the official press image of the phone.
Evan Blass is a famous leakster on Twitter and is known by his handle @evleaks. He recently tweeted an image of a Samsung device which he claimed to be the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017). Blass has always been a reliable and trusted source of leaks and we can trust him for this one too.
The Galaxy J7 (2017) is seen sporting a design similar to the Galaxy J3 Emerge that was launched earlier this year the USA. The design change is mainly on the back that now sports a brushed strip that runs across the device and sports the camera module and the LED flash. The speaker grill is nowhere to be seen on the back (yes, till recently many Samsung phones had speakers on their back), so we may presume it to be at the bottom or on the side, like the 2017 Galaxy A series.
Apart from this, the phone remains to be unchanged from the front. It looks like any other Samsung phone. The company is being said to get rid of its iconic home button but is supposed to happen only in their flagship series smartphone starting with the upcoming Galaxy S8. The mid-range and the lower end smartphones are probably the last ones to get the innovative developments that take place in the upper tier.

Previous leaks have confirmed that the Galaxy J7 (2017) will come with a 5.5-inch display that will sport a 720p resolution. It will be powered by an Exynos 7870 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and will run the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. The internal memory will be 16 GB with a RAM capacity of 2 GB. There would be an 8MP sensor on the back and a 2MP unit on the front.
A listing on Geekbench website showed a model number SM-J727P that comes with Snapdragon 625. So, there might be multiple models of the phone and the device’s specifications will depend on the region of availability. Blass mentioned in his tweet that the phone will be available as Galaxy J7 V on Verizon and as J7 Sky Pro on Tracfone.
