The 2-in-1 tablet from Microsoft has been making news for a few years as it offers the features of a laptop with the portability of a laptop. The Surface Pro is the high-end tablet with best-in-class specifications and it is now expected to get a major update very soon.
First of all, the upcoming tablet will be called Microsoft Surface Pro 5, which is quite obvious going by the tablet has been named in the past. The Surface Pro 5 will come with top of the line specifications for the best in class user experience. It is tipped to be launched with Intel’s Kaby Lake processors.
The wait for Intel to launch the Kaby Lake processors is the reason for Microsoft taking so long in launching the Surface Pro 5. The Surface Pro 4 was launched by Microsoft in October 2015, so the next iteration should have been launched by the October 2016, but it didn’t happen. Microsoft wanted to wait a bit to bring their product with the latest internals as decided previously than to hurriedly launch it with older processors.
Apple chose to settle with the current generation Skylake processors with their MacBook Pro launched some time ago. It was expected that Apple will launch the MacBook Pro with Intel Kaby Lake processors, but it ultimately settled with Skylake. And Microsoft doesn’t want to do this and preferred to wait. Moreover, the Surface Pro 5 will be launched with the Windows 10 Creators Update. And the Windows 10 update won’t be available until spring 2017, so we should expect the new tablets to be launched only then.
