A lot has been said about the Surface Pro 5 but there has been no official word on its availability. As per the latest reports, the launch of the highly-anticipated tablet from Microsoft will take some more time to launch and will see the light of day only in October this year.
Another interesting development around the device is its processor. A number of reports in the past have said that the Surface Pro 5 will be powered by Intel Kaby Lake processor. The latest report claims AMD Ryzen to be used in the Surface Pro 5 and not the Intel ones. The 2017 MacBook Pro has also been said to be coming with Ryzen processor.
Microsoft Surface Pro 5 was first anticipated to be unveiled during MWC 2017 held earlier this year, but Microsoft revealed nothing about the tablet. The Windows 10 Creators Update isn’t expected to release until spring 2017 and Microsoft will probably hold back its Surface hardware until then.
The speculation that the Surface Pro 5 will come powered by a Ryzen processor is based on a recent trailer of Alien: Covenant. The trailer seemingly shows a new Microsoft Surface device and the description of the trailer reads “Intelligence powered by AMD, Ryzen and Radeon”. The movie is being sponsored by AMD and the trailer is being seen as a teaser to the upcoming Surface tablet with AMD Ryzen under the hood.
Some reports claim that Pegatron will be making the new Surface Pro 5 under a contract with Microsoft. Apparently, the same contract manufacturer makes Surface Studio for Microsoft. The Surface Pro 5 is expected to sport a 4K display, an improved stylus that supports wireless charging, USB Type-C Ports and more. The pricing is expected to start from $899.
