The 10.5-inch iPad Pro 2 was rumored to launch at the March event. Now that we are in April, clearly the rumor was, in fact, a rumor. Last week saw the Cupertino company announcing the low-cost 9.7-inch iPad, new Apple Watch bands, RED iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus and 128GB iPhone SE. Many Apple fans were eagerly waiting for March launch of the 10.5-inch version of iPad Pro 2. With no clear date in sight, the wait will continue for some more days.
iPad Pro 2 to come with Apple’s greatest A10 processor?
The 10.5-inch iPad will remain the same size as 9.7-inch iPad Pro because of the smaller bezel. This implicitly means display resolution will increase by an order (to maintain the same pixels per inch). Both 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2 models are likely to sport the A10 processor, which happens to Apple’s fastest mobile chip to date. It’s worth recollecting that Apple had announced the 12.9-inch iPad Pro way back in October 2015, but there hasn’t been any update on this yet.
Some reports talk about he 10.5-inch variant not featuring the physical home button, just like iPhone 8. But there are also reports which state that this feature is likely to come only on the iPhone and not on the iPad.
iPad Pro 2 release date
Talking about 10.5-inch iPad production, IHS Markit analyst Rhoda Alexander told Forbes –
“Indications are…10.5-inch iPad production is commencing this month. An April launch still looks somewhat tentative but the necessary elements are starting to come together. The initial production is limited but Apple’s been known to do fairly fast ramp ups in the past. It’s also possible Apple could do a limited launch initially, adding countries as volume allows.”
So we are looking at an April soft launch for the 10.5-inch variant, with the 12.9-inch model being launch in the US initially, apart from a few select countries. A global launch is expected later this year.
