The Google Play Store may just be another app on your Android phone but it is probably the most significant of them all. It is the gateway to all the apps that are currently installed on your device. Google has just released an update to the Play Store and it has got a major overhaul for its icon.
Google has dropped the white shopping bag from the app icon with the 7.8.16 update and the now it only has the Play Store triangle icon. The icon for notification bar has also been changed in a similar manner and it also now doesn’t feature the shopping bag.
However, Google had dropped the shopping bag ever since the Pixel phones were launched with the Pixel Launcher that had all the app icons stylised in circles. Meanwhile, the full version of the Play Store icon still had that shopping bag, but that would change with this Play Store 7.8.16 update.
Google is slowly rolling out the update to all the Android devices but it will take some time for everyone to get it. If you want the Play Store 7.8.16 update immediately, you can head to APK Mirror and download its APK file.
The official changelog doesn’t mention any other change or a new feature with this version. The Google Play Store 7.8.16 APK file weighs 17.89 MB and needs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and above.
Google had recently changed the ‘My Apps & Games’ page on the Google Play Store recently. It now features much more relevant information for the apps that need an update and others as well. The top panel also got updated with three heads – Updates, Installed, and Library.
