It hasn’t been much since Goole launched its first self-branded smartphones – Google Pixel and Pixel XL – but we have already started to receive information about their successor. The rumour mill is working at full swing and has informed about a few improvements and a new budget variant of the Pixel phone.
A report suggests that the upcoming Google Pixel 2 phones will be water resistant. The original Pixel phones were criticized much for missing the feature, especially when Apple chose to make their iPhones water resistant, the phone Google Pixel was directly competing with. Waterproofing is a welcoming feature for the phone.
It was also said in the report that Google is also focusing on improving the camera and CPU capabilities of the Pixel 2. It is worth noting that Google is testing the Pixel phones with processors from two different partners, Intel and Qualcomm, with latter’s Snapdragon 83X chipset being used reportedly. Google is also being rumoured to have developed their own chip, but chances of it making to the Pixel 2 are very less.
For improving the camera, Google will not focus on increasing the pixel count but will ensure a better low-light performance and some added features. The claim seems similar to what HTC made with their Ultra Pixel tech and we will have to wait a bit more to see what Google brings to the table.
Coming to the budget Pixel, Google is also expected to come up with a budget variant of the phone too. With the news of Google Pixel 2 being at least $50 costlier than the present gen phone, the budget Pixel phone might bring some relief. It would feature a bit lowered specs and will also have a lower price tag. It is being said to be developed for bringing the Google experience to emerging markets.
