The Canadian smartphone maker is all set to reveal its flagship smartphone dubbed as BlackBerry Mercury. The company has released a teaser image that shows the phone in all its glory and there are the launch details mentioned below. The smartphone will be revealed on February 25th in Barcelona during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017.
There was a time when BlackBerry was one of the top phone makers in the world. While the company is struggling to make a space in the ever-changing smartphone market, the iconic QWERTY keyboard is coming back with the upcoming phone. The BlackBerry Mercury will feature both, a large touchscreen and a physical QWERTY keyboard below it.
BlackBerry Priv, launched in 2015, sported a similar design and was much appreciated by the critics and the consumers alike. Though Mercury looks a lot similar to Priv, the company has made sure to bring many improvements for the internals of the phone. Mercury is just a codename being used internally by the company and the device may be launched with a different name altogether.
It is expected to come with a 4.5-inch display with a 4:3 aspect ratio. The BlackBerry Mercury would come powered by Snapdragon 625 processor along with Adreno 506 processor and 3 GB of RAM. It will feature a 3400 mAh battery pack and there will be an 18 MP camera on the back, while an 8 MP unit will sit on the front.
A unique thing about the QWERTY keyboard is that the spacebar will house the fingerprint scanner and the phone will also have USB Type-C port for charging and data syncing. The other details about the device including its pricing and availability will be announced on February 25th.
