The year 2017 is going to be the most important one for AMD as it is betting big on its Ryzen processors and Vega GPUs. While the Ryzen series has recently gone official, the Vega graphics cards are yet to be announced. Both of them have created a buzz in the market already and the company has also announced when it would unveil the new Vega GPUs.
It would be the second quarter of 2017 when AMD will announce the Vega GPUs and Radeon 500 series. The company has an event, Capsaicin and Cream, scheduled for February 28 at GDC 2017 where AMD will give some details of the upcoming lineup of graphics processors. The Radeon 500 series graphics card will give an exclusive look at the event along with several other gaming demonstrations and performance benchmarks.
During the Ryzen launch earlier this week, AMD gave the members of the press a chance to try their hand with a system running on AMD Ryzen processor and Vega GPU. The system was using the octa-core Ryzen 7 1700X processor along with and enthusiast Vega graphics card and was running Star Wars Battlefront in 4K resolution.
The members of the press were also allowed to play with the system and to test out its performance and verify the specifications. The best part about the gameplay was that it was giving a steady framerate of 60FPS+, which is impressive for a resolution of 4K. The images of the internals were taken during the testing session of the system.
Both the Vega GPUs and the Ryzen processors have proven their worth against their best competitor in the market. The Ryzen 7 1700X processor outnumbered the Intel Core i7-5960X processor while the Vega GPU has proved itself better than the mighty GTX 1080 graphics processor.
