Sony isn’t doing well in the smartphone business, and the reason behind it might be the company’s ignorance to innovation. While other smartphone makers like Samsung, Apple, and LG are trying to change the game with features like curved screen, dual cameras, and detachable modules, Sony is just focussing on design and specs.
But it now looks like Sony is about to change its game and introduce some newness to its smartphone lineup. We all know the Xperia XZ. Well, Sony has apparently decided to give it a major overhaul, and the company is working on a new Xperia XZ (2017). A new spy shot of the Sony Xperia XZ 2017 version has been leaked on Slashleaks, and it’s quite promising.
The above image is of the front panel that will supposedly be used for the 2017 version of the Xperia XZ. As you can see, the panel is gold plated and the upper and lower chins are quite thick; Sony may trim them in the final version. There is the front camera on the top with the Sony branding in the middle.
The curved screen seems almost bezel-less, while the lower chin might have the capacitive navigation touch buttons. Also, notice the notches on the top and bottom part of the panel; they could be stereo speaker grilles. Other than that, we know nothing about the phone right now, and we can only guess that it could be the next Sony flagship.
Now that the front panel has leaked out, we know that Sony is working on the Xperia XZ 2017. More details should arrive soon, so stay tuned.

PlayStation is their own highly profitable ecosystem, full of exclusive media, great software, and industry leading services. That is what they need to rally behind, and creat a mobile device that redefines the… Read more »
