Apple iPhones are the highly-anticipated devices in the tech world each year and this year’s iPhone is more important as it is going to be a decade since the first iPhone saw the light of day. The iPhone 8 has been subjected to a number of leaks this year and we are still months away from its launch.
A new video has surfaced that shows the iPhone 8 in all its glory. The device being shown here is probably a dummy unit but it does give us an idea how the phone would look.
With such huge numbers of iPhones being made available each year at launch, the manufacturing units start producing the iPhones way before their launch is scheduled and around this time of the year, the design of the phone is also finalised. So, we might be looking at the final design of the upcoming iPhone 8. Most importantly, this is in line with previous leaks, which gives the claim a bit of support.
The video was made available by Benjamin Geskin, a tipster who has leaked a number of live images and renders in the past too. The video shows an iPhone 8 unit from all its sides and it looks exactly like the images that leaked a while ago. There is no home button and the screen is probably edge-to-edge. The back also doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner, confirming an embedded one, and dual camera setup on the top left corner.
Another image leaked on Weibo says an entirely different story. As per these images, the front will not have an edge-to-edge display and will look more like the LG G6. The camera module also gets some minor tweaks like the placement of the LED flash outside of the camera housing. The major point to note is the presence of a fingerprint scanner on the back.
On the other hand, the image leaked by MobileExpose shows four iPhone 8 looking devices from their back only. The phones in this image, however, don’t have a fingerprint scanner on their back and the design is more or less the same as the one shown in the video.
According to a recent report by The Bell (via The Investor), Samsung has been roped in to supply the OLED panels for the iPhones. The report further adds that a deal has been signed by both the parties for the supply of iPhone 9 as well. The iPhone 9 are reported to come with two new screen sizes – 5.28 inches and 6.46 inches and Samsung will be shipping 180 million of these screens next year.
For the 2017 iPhones, only the anniversary edition iPhone 8 will sport an OLED panel measuring 5.8 inches. All the three iPhones expected this year will support wireless charging.
